Qatar's Supreme Education Council (SEC) has approved the opening of 76 new private schools and kindergartens in the country, the Peninsula has reported. "Until now, we have received 76 applications from citizens to open new private schools and kindergartens and we have given initial approval," said Hamad Mohammed Al Ghali Al Merri, director of Private Schools Office at SEC. We have also given them time until next June to settle their status with other bodies concerned including Civil Defence and the health authorities. If they don't fulfil these requirements by June, the initial approval will be automatically revoked," said Al Merri.
