Qatar Advisory Council to weigh bill to tax hotels

The Qatari cabinet has approved a draft law on tax on hotels and tourist restaurants, which will be forwarded to the Advisory Council for ratification, the Peninsula has reported. Under the proposed bill, the tax rate will be 10% of the price of services offered, but this could be reduced to 5% upon a decision of the cabinet provided a part of this revenue is to be allocated for the training and development of Qatari employees at these facilities and their rehabilitation while the other part is allocated for their bonuses.
