Qatar Career Fair announces opportunities for Qataris at 2013 Fair

Qatar Career Fair (QCF) announced new data on education, employment, training and development opportunities across major economic sectors that will be available for Qataris during the upcoming fair from April 1 to 6. Over 4,800 opportunities will be available in the Education, Health and Sports sector, followed by over 4,200 in the Business and Finance sector, over 3,600 in the Government sector and 1,871 in the Energy and Industry sector respectively.
The findings were compiled from data submitted by over 145 exhibitors who will be participating in QCF 2013.
They include Qatar's leading public and private sector corporations that are driving growth and development in the country.
"As Qatar progresses towards a knowledge-based nation, a more competitive and diversified economic landscape is rapidly emerging. The data provided by QCF 2013 exhibitors substantiates this progression and demonstrates the commitment by Qatar's leading organizations to uphold the human development pillar of our country's national vision," said Abdullah Al Mansoori, Executive Director, QCF.
In terms of education opportunities, over 2,100 programmes will be showcased by participating companies and government bodies, with over 1300 in the Education, Health and Sports sector, over 340 in the Business and Finance sector, over 275 in the Government sector and over 205 in the Energy and Industry sector.
Education opportunities provided by participating companies enable Qataris to pursue their higher studies in specialized fields at world-class institutions and universities while working. Providing the right opportunities for Qataris and helping them align their education focus with their broader career goals is one of the key objectives of QCF. It is a vital part of empowering Qatari youuth to take charge of their future.
A total of 6,252 employment opportunities will aso be available during the Fair, with the Business and Finace sector estimated to have over 2,600 opportunities, followed by over 1,800 in the Government sector, over 1,100 in the Education, Health and Sports sector, and over 660 in the Energy and Industry sector. Fresh graduates with outstanding high school and university qualifications or those with dynamic resumes will be eligible to apply for these opportunities.
The findings also revealed that over 2,850 training opportunities will be made available for Qatari graduates during the fair. The highest number of training opportunities will be coming from the Education, Health and Sports sectors, with over 1,170 training courses and programmes to consider.
Over 780 training programmes will be available in the Government sector, over 480 in the Business and Finance sector, and around 400 in the Energy and Industry sector respectively. Qatar Foundation, for example, runs a trainee programme for high school and university graduates to receive on-the-job training, job assignments and formal classroom training within its headquarters or in one of its many centers, partners and affiliates. The programme spans one to two years, upon which trainees have the opportunity to become full-time employees.
In addition over 3,300 development opportunities will be offered across the four industries. Development programmes differ from one company to another but are essentially available to all Qataris who seek to enhance certain aspects of their skills set or to attend knowledge-building courses of interest that are not offered by their present employers.
Most of the development programmes will be from the Education, Health and Sports sectors with over 1,230 opportunities being offered, followed by over 760 in the Business and Finance sector, over 710 in the Givernment sector and over 600 in the Energy and Industry sector. These opportunities are fundamental in helping to to build a highly skilled Qatari workforce.
"QCF 2013 is set to be the biggest one to date, with over 14,500 opportunities in education, employment, training, and development being offered by Qatar's leading public and private sector organisations. As such we strongly urge Qatari's to take advantage of the wealth of professional guidance and advice on the career opportunities and alternatives available to them, and to make informed career decisions for their future," added Al Mansoori.
