  • Qatar: Wednesday, September 19 - 2012 at 09:33

Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud al-Thani, the governor of Qatar's central bank said he was "very comfortable" with current interest rates and is not concerned about hot money inflows, Reuters has reported. "Yes, I am very comfortable with interest rates," he told reporters on the sidelines of a financial conference in the Qatari capital. The central bank cut its overnight deposit rate by a combined 75 basis points in April and August 2011 to the current level of 0.75% to discourage banks from parking excess money at its accounts, support lending and bring the rate closer to its US benchmark.
