Qatar Chapter of ME-IR Society convenes for third time as Qatar Exchange officially joins as founding members

The Qatar Chapter of the Middle East Investor Relations Society announced that the Qatar Exchange (Q.E) has officially joined the established Qatar working group as a board member.

The ME-IR Society Qatar Chapter is chaired by Adel Al Mutawa, Executive Director at Qtel, and supports the development and practice of IR among Qatari companies through the establishment of solid networking platforms, regular training sessions and IR focused conferences.

The Qatar Chapter was the first Chapter officially launched by the ME-IR Society in early 2012 and original founding members of the Qatar chapter include:
•Amwal.
•The Bank of New York Mellon.
•Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) Q.S.C.
•Qtel.
•Thomson Reuters.
•Vodafone Qatar.
•Commercial Bank of Qatar.

Abdul Aziz Al Emadi, Director of Listings at the Qatar Exchange, commented, "Qatar Exchange has been an active participant in the Society's activities in Qatar since its inception and it is a natural progression for us to formally commit to its aims as board member. We have been a strong supporter of the Society given their aims are very much in line with our own objectives of promoting transparency amongst listed companies and assisting where possible in achieving this goal through education and awareness of best market practice."

Adel Mutawa, Board member of the ME-IR Society and Qatar Chapter Chairman also commented, "The active support of QE has been a key element in the success of developing of Investor Relations for the listed companies of Qatar. The annual IR conferences held in partnership by QE and the ME-IR Society each May have promoted the profession and set an example for the listed companies of Qatar. On behalf of the founding members I express gratitude to the Exchange for their previous contributions and now they have officially joined as founding members, we look to collectively continue setting the example for IR progress in the Middle East."

In alignment with the Society, the Qatar chapter is an independent, not for profit rganization with membership open to all Investor Relations, financial communications and capital market professionals in Qatar. Members will have full access to all wider Society resources and events, together with the opportunity to network with their peers across the region.

Companies practicing the highest standards of Investor Relations in the Middle East will be rewarded on the 29th November in Abu Dhabi at the ME-IR Society's Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony.
