Qatar Petroleum hosts 26th GCC Supply Chain Committee meeting

Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, the 26th meeting of the GCC Oil and Gas Companies Supply Chain Committee (GCCSC) was held at The Ritz-Carlton Doha on May 8-9, 2013 under the auspices of the Corporate Purchasing and Contracts Department of Qatar Petroleum (QP).
The GCCSC was originally formed in 2000 under the patronage of QP with an aim to foster cooperation among GCC's oil & gas national companies in the relevant fields.
In his keynote speech, Mr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al-Mulla, QP Corporate Manager Purchasing & Contracts, stated that he firmly believes that the Supply Chain Managers Coordination Committee remains the foundation for successful cooperation and the transfer of knowledge among national oil and gas companies in the GCC.
He also emphasized the need for dynamism and commitment on the part of industry leaders and for continuous efforts in making tangible achievements by way of supporting each other's critical needs, thus ensuring uninterrupted production operations aimed towards maximizing profitability and enhanced social responsibilities.
Mr. Al-Mulla made appreciative references to recent incidences of mutual exchanges of critical operational materials among GCC's national oil & gas companies, thus resulting in avoidance of revenue losses.
The delegates made a number of valuable presentations which provided a wide range of topics for deliberations and paved the way for the sharing of knowledge and best practices. The principal theme of the discussions transpired into innovative ways of transforming procurement and supply chain management activities towards one that is more strategic in nature and instills enhanced local contents by way of advanced utilization of regional and national resources.
The two-day meeting also featured speakers from international energy giants like ExxonMobil and Shell, which are the distinguished partners of QP in various major joint ventures.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Al-Mulla expressed his sincere gratitude to H.E. Dr. Al-Sada for his active patronage and support to the GCC Supply Chain Committee.
He also thanked the delegates for their valued participation and encouraged them to continue to uphold the high standards in matters of coordination, mutual support and sharing of knowledge which have been achieved to date.
