Qatar Tourism Authority announces 5-day packed programme of sports and entertainment for National Sports Day

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will team up with Qatar Tennis Federation, the Private Engineering Office and Samash Tennis Academy to celebrate the country's National Sports Day on the 12th February, 2013 by launching a packed five-day programme of wide-ranging entertainment and sporting activities The NSD five day programme will take place on Palm Island which will be highlighting the natural places in Qatar.
Qatar's National Sports Day (NSD), a national holiday to celebrate sports of every kind, also aims to encourage everyone to take up sports in Qatar to reap the health benefits of regular exercise. QTA's participation serves to highlight Doha's emergence as the region's sports capital and QTA's bid to make sports tourism a key part of the sector in Qatar.
Mr. Abdullah Al Badr, QTA's Director of Tourism commented: "The significance of National Sports Day lies in spreading awareness of the need to embrace a healthy lifestyle through sport. At the same time it serves to underline QTA's strategy for sports tourism to play an important part in the country's tourism agenda."
The NSD five day programme will take place on Palm Island and include theatre performances to keep children entertained, alongside clowns and face painting, while mini tennis courts and beach tennis, a first in Qatar, will provide the spur for them to take part in sport on the day.
Mr. Tarek Darwish Zainal, Assistant Secretary General of Qatar Tennis Federation said that the five day programme will be from February 12th to February 16th, 2013, from 10 am to 3:00 pm, under the supervision of QTF trainers and workers, to secure the best service to the participants and to answer on any related inquiry.
He added that the Qatar Tennis Federation is always keen to support and contribute to elevate the level of sports in the State of Qatar, and highlight the prestigious sports level internationally, "The organization of such joint ventures projects will expand the base of sports participation among individuals and encourage them to exercise and especially when it comes to tennis which has evolved significantly in the State of Qatar. This is very well noticed, with Doha hosting international tennis players, where Qatar Tennis Federation is organizing the "Qatar Total Open 2013" which is under the patronage of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, will be held in the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from February 11th to February 17th, 2013.
