Qatar Tourism Authority underscores Qatar's rich culture at Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo

A large number of visitors flocked to the modern Qatari cultural Village set up through a historically representation of the traditional souk. The traditional Arabic market set up in Japan for the festivity week showcased a number of cultural activities including Qatari folklore, dress, music, entertainment and a number of informative talks and presentations, and a selection of Qatari products.

As part of its set of cultural activities, QTA served the Japanese audience the traditional Qatari cuisine including mouthwatering Qatari recipes such as Chicken Majbous, Tharid, Rice, Saloonah, Balaleet as main courses and Khanfarouch and Lgimat exquisite deserts.

QTA's contribution to Ferjaan added great value in showcasing the rich heritage of Qatar, highlighting its Business, Sports, Leisure and Culture sectors. As Qatar flourishes and moves towards a bright and promising future, it has preserved its routes and its identity; Ferjaan Tokyo came as the ultimate platform to showcase the Qatari pride.

Qatar was strongly represented by a host of strategic partners in addition to the QMA (Qatar Museum Authority ), such as the QTA, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of Japan in Qatar, Embassy of the State of Qatar in Japan, Qatar Airways, Doha Film Institute, Katara, Ministry of Business & Trade, Qatar 2022, Qatar Foundation and Reach Out to Asia. All participating organizations brought a piece of Qatar to share with the international audience.

Mr. Issa M. Al Mohannadi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority said: "We are delighted with the great interest from the Japanese audience in our culture. The various activities that everyone brought to Ferjaan helped to reflect the essence of our rich culture and unmatched heritage. We believe that this week has helped bring Qatar and Japan closer together and strengthen the ties between the two nations."

The one week celebration that ran from the 27th of September to the 1st of October, promoted mutual understanding, and appreciation of the cultures, traditions and people of the State of Qatar and Japan.

The Qatar-Japan 2012 sought to celebrate the friendship between the two nations by showcasing these various elements in a series of activities that range from fashion to the performing arts and cinema to educational exchange programs.
