Qatari banking sector's 2013 outlook 'brighter' than last year

  • Qatar: Thursday, March 21 - 2013 at 04:39

QNB Financial Services (QNBFS) has said it is "cautiously optimistic" on Qatar's banking sector, Gulf Times has reported. The country's banking sector is expected to register a 15%-20% loan growth and a 9.9% in aggregate net income this year, even as net interest margins are slated to see a 10 basis points fall, the firm said. While 2012 was a subdued year for most banks (the banking index fell 1.3% against a 4.6% gain in the benchmark QE index), "we believe 2013 could be brighter," QNBFS said. However, "we are cautiously optimistic on the Qatari banking sector in 2013," it said.
