- PRESS RELEASE
The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), responsible for the development of quality infrastructure and raising awareness on quality in Abu Dhabi, has entered into a strategic partnership with Intertek, a global leader in quality solutions servicing a wide range of industries, to enhance the development of a quality framework in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Under the agreement, Intertek and QCC are committed to work together to implement three stages of activity.
Intertek will initially provide advisory services for the development of quality conformity schemes for specified products and systems. Following this, Intertek will provide operational management services and quality assurance support to QCC's existing testing and certification resources.
Finally, both partners will work together to establish centers of excellence in Abu Dhabi covering major sectors including food and water, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, building materials and electrical appliances.
The outcome of this long term programme is directed at enhancing the quality of products exported from Abu Dhabi and traded locally, besides controlling the quality and safety standards of imported goods.
His Excellency, Nasser Ahmed Alsowaidi, Chairman, QCC, said, "Partnering with Intertek was an obvious choice for QCC given its capabilities as the leading provider of global quality solutions and experience in delivering effective quality outsourcing programmes. This long term strategic partnership, which is aligned with Abu Dhabi's 2030 Economic Vision, seeks to enhance quality infrastructure in the emirate by controlling the quality of goods traded in Abu Dhabi and protecting consumers."
Wolfhart Hauser, Group Chief Executive, Intertek, said, "It is an honor to work with QCC towards developing Abu Dhabi's quality infrastructure. We are certain that our capabilities and extensive expertise will support the Council in its objective of meeting the higher expectations of quality and safety from Abu Dhabi's growing population."
The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to raise the quality of the emirate's exports and locally traded products, while protecting the interest of consumers and supporting the UAE's competitive economy.
This is achieved through empowering regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes. QCC also sets guidelines and benchmarks to identify and verify that the products manufactured and traded in Abu Dhabi conform to the highest quality standards.
