QMIC showcases its innovations in 19th ITS World Congress in Vienna

The Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) is participating in the 19th ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) World Congress being held in Vienna, Austria between October 22nd and October 26th.

The ITS world congress is held once a year in different parts of the world where all the global ITS vendors, visionaries, innovators, regulators, and car manufacturers come together to showcase their latest innovations in the field of ITS, and to discuss issues related to the advancement of ITS at global scale.

The 19th ITS World Congress Exhibition gathers over 300 international exhibitors and attracts 10,000 senior ITS professional visitors from more than 60 countries. This event is the most important ITS happening, worldwide, in the year.

QMIC is the only regional institution to showcase its solutions in this important event this year. In particular, QMIC will be demonstrating its Intelligent Transportation, Road Safety & Logistics suite of services and applications (Masarak), its futuristic connected cars initiative, its intelligent sensing and M2M services platform (Labeeb), its WaveTraf traffic sensor and technology, and its Intelligent Air Quality Monitoring and Eco-Friendly Solution (Hawa'ak).

Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya, the Executive Director of QMIC, stated, "QMIC has a clear strategy to become the regional leader in the development and market delivery of ITS and mobility innovations. We currently have a unique and growing portfolio of solutions and services that are deployed locally and have international appeal and applicability. Together with our strategic partners, we are positioning Qatar as a key producer of ITS and mobility technologies and solutions. Our participation in the ITS World Congress this year will clearly demonstrate the significant progress we made and the commitment we have towards achieving our strategic objectives."

QMIC's biggest splash in this exhibition will be for the locally-built Intelligent Transportation, Road Safety & Logistics suite of services (Masarak) which QMIC built in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP). We are very proud to partner with MMUP on creating such an innovative suite of services to serve the transportation, road safety and logistics markets locally and internationally, Dr. Abu-Dayya added.

Mr. Omar Bondogji, the Head of Business Development and Marketing at QMIC, said, "We have waited anxiously for this moment to showcase the ready-to-commercialize Masarak platform and suite of services which include its intelligent traffic monitoring solution, the intelligent Dispatching system, intelligent fleet management system, intelligent navigation & traveller info, intelligent vehicle tracking service. Being the first regional organization to participate strongly in such global event will motivate us to present well and to showcase what Qatar and the gulf region can do in this field. We have prepared a great set of showcases to impress the novices and the expert attendees who come from all parts of the world to witness the latest innovations in the field of ITS."

QMIC Connected Cars - Cooperative ITS- initiative which was announced earlier this year will have a considerable impact on road safety and traffic efficiency. QMIC is leading Cooperative ITS in the region and is working diligently to create significant local car-to-x safety services and technology platform for deployment in Qatar in preparation for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. QMIC's Cooperative ITS platform has been developed following the latest relevant standards from ETSI. This platform has performed well in tests against other global implementations in ETSI/ERTICO Plugtests which were held in the last few months.

On this note, Dr. Fethi Filali, the ITS Technology Leader at QMIC, said, "Car to car and car to infrastructure communications is the hottest new trend in ITS where major global ITS players are actively engaged in this area. QMIC is very proud to be the first regional player and among the global innovators in creating and enhancing Connected Cars technologies and services. We are most excited about the potential impact these technologies and services will have on improving road safety which is a strategic priority for Qatar."
