QPI, ExxonMobil to build $10bn LNG export plant in Texas

Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) has signed an agreement with ExxonMobil Corp to build a $10bn natural gas export terminal in Texas, Bloomberg has reported. Golden Pass Products, a subsidiary formed by the two companies, said the project will involve installing liquefaction equipment at an existing import facility in Sabine Pass, Texas. ExxonMobil and state-owned Qatar Petroleum plan to ship as much as 15.6 million metric tonnes of gas annually from the Golden Pass facility. A final investment decision will be made after the project receives government approvals, and will be based on a range of factors, the company said.
