QTA announces record-breaking figures for 10th anniversary edition of Doha Jewelry and Watches Exhibition

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) proudly announced record-breaking figures for the 10th anniversary edition of the Doha Jewelry & Watches Exhibition that ended on 3 March 2013 after a packed seven days of visitors and business deals.

Visitors to the event increased by 50% this year compared to last year's exhibition.

Opened by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, and in the presence of VIPs and exhibitors, and on the opening night, QTA Chairman, HE Eng Issa Al-Mohannadi cut a giant 10th anniversary cake that symbolized the success of the show that has grown over a decade.

The event showcased some of the world's most fabulous jewelry and marked the first ever public showing of the world's most flawless diamond and the third largest in the world.

HE Eng Issa Al-Mohannadi , Chairman of QTA, said: "We were honored by the presence of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani to inaugurate the DJWE 10th edition, which added value to the show. This success would not have been possible without the efforts made by QTA's team to promote tourism and to place Qatar on the map as a destination for business tourism and conferences. At the time in which QTA is working on formulating its new strategy, the number of the tourists from all over the world visiting the exhibition, which exceeded 16%, confirms that we are heading in the right direction towards the development of the tourism sector in the State of Qatar."

QTA has helped to establish Qatar as a successful MICE destination with over 60 major international events a year.
