Real estate trading falls in Jordan

According to figures by Jordan's Department of Lands and Survey (DLS), trading in the real-estate sector fell 25% during the first eight months of this year to JD3.481bn from JD4.355bn during the same period of last year, Jordan Times has reported. Non-Jordanians accounted for 3,341 purchase transactions, including 2,054 for apartments and 1,287 for land plots. These facilities were sold at a value of around JD285.2m, up 3% compared with the same period last year. Iraqis ranked first in the number and value of purchases, followed by Saudis, Kuwaitis and Syrians. The market value of the Iraqi purchases reached JD146.2m.
