Regulators join Middle East VRF Conference

With manufacturers of VRF systems seeking answers on regulations and approvals processes in the region, the participation of the regulators could not have been better timed. "There is a need in the market to better understand the environmental policies that govern regulation and approvals, and the presence of Estidama and GSAS will give stakeholders direct access to the regulatory thought-process," said B Surendar, Editorial Director & Associate Publisher of CPI Industry, the organiser of the conference.

Young and Elsarrag will join speakers from across the region, like Yaqoub Almatouq, refrigerants expert from Kuwait; Mohamed Saleh Badri of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology; and George Kenich of Aldar Properties.

There is considerable interest in VRF systems in the region. The systems are seen as being energy efficient in part-load and full-load conditions, and are acknowledged as offering flexibility in projects, owing to their modular feature.

The conference, in addition to discussing regulatory issues, will cover technical issues related to lifecycle costs and benefits, diversity, retrofitting opportunities, installation, and operations and maintenance. Johnson Controls and Elapco, two purveyors of VRF systems, will make presentations on technical aspects of VRFs, with the former set to discuss the all-important issue of coefficient of performance of VRF systems in high-ambient conditions.
