Swiss luxury watch sales tumble in UAE
Sales of Swiss luxury watches fell by almost 35% in the UAE in 2009, as imports fell to 438 million Swiss francs (Dhs1.49bn), according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry. Saudi gold consumption tops SR16.5bn
Gold consumption in Saudi Arabia grew last year by 17% in terms of value, breaking the SR16.5bn barrier, compared with SR13.8bn in 2007. Conversely, the total demand in terms of weight fell by 4% to 122.4 tonnes.
