ITS and Road Safety Forum Qatar launched

Global leaders in the ITS and Road Safety came together in Qatar Tuesday 2 October 2012 to uncover the latest developments in Qatar's ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) Masterplan and Road Safety Strategy and reviewing their progress.
The conference addressed some of the most pressing challenges faced by the small gulf state as it continues its efforts to meet the demands of the region's growing population demand and development strategy for 2030 as well as keeping the country safe and moving for road and public transport users.
HE Eng. Nasser Ali Mawlawi, President of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) opening the forum followed by a presentation from other Public Works Authority (Ashghal)'s representatives as well as presentations from His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General, Qatar Olympic Committee, Nasser Al Khanji, Business Development and Strategy Director, Mowasalat and Alan Bristow, Head of Traffic, Transport for London, UK.
The summit continues for one more day (Wednesday 3 October 2012) at The Renaissance Hotel, Doha, Qatar where the attendees will hear presentations from Senior road safety experts from Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Brigadier Engineer Mohd.A.Al-Malki, Expert in Office, Minister of State of Interior Affairs and General Secretary, National Committee for Traffic Safety, H.E. Engineer Abdulla S. Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Municipal Infrastructure Sector, Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, Eng. Adnan Shabeeb, Traffic and Transport Engineer and Planner, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Saudi Arabia and Dr. Khaled Shaaban, Chairman of the Research Sub Committee, Ministry of Interior and Assistant Professor, Department of Civil & Architectural Engineering, Qatar University.
