Royal Scientific Society, United Nations Human Settlements Programme sign MoU

In order to enhance the effectiveness of their development efforts, the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and UN-Habitat signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration. RSS' mission is to build and strengthen scientific research in key areas of strategic value to Jordan's long-term competitiveness and development.
On a non-exclusive basis, RSS and UN-Habitat will collaborate in areas of common interest in relation to Citizen Participation, Urban Development and Governance, Construction and Materials, Affordable Housing, Energy, Water and Environment, and Disaster Risk Reduction, Prevention and Preparedness.
By jointly strengthening capacities through research and development (R&D), knowledge exchange, capacity building, and advisory and technical assistance; RSS and UN-Habitat aim at promoting Jordan as an incubator of knowledge creation and knowledge transfer in Jordan and subsequently across the Arab region.
Prof. Odeh Al-Jayyousi, RSS Vice President for Science and Research, considers this MoU as a starting point for genuine collaboration with UN-Habitat to provide smart solutions for new generations with a special focus on environment protection, resource efficiency and citizen participation in sustainable urban development.
