        Jordan's tourist industry has managed to grow this year despite recent regional conflicts and the fatal shooting of a tourist in Amman several months ago, reported the Jordan Times. Visitor numbers increased by 7.4% in the first nine months of the year, reaching almost 5m, when compared to last year's 4.6m for the same period. Arab tourists account for nearly 3.8m visitors, with Saudi Arabia providing 954,000 tourists.

        The UK's Virgin Galactic has denied it is considering setting up a spaceport in Bahrain, reported TradeArabia citing the Gulf Daily News. The firm, which is to offer suborbital flights at $200,000 a ticket from 2008, said it is concentrating on developing Spaceport America in New Mexico and is also eyeing locations in Sweden and Scotland.
