Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has increased the metro frequency during peak hours, Emirates 24-7 has reported. While a metro would arrive at a platform every 3.5 minutes one month ago, commuters will not wait any longer than three minutes with the new frequency during peak hours, which runs from 6.30-9am, and 4.30-8pm. "We increased the Metro frequency at peak hours, because this was needed. Trains at these hours are very crowded, and we continuously respond to commuter experience," said the director of the Rail Operations Department at the RTA, Ramadan Abdullah.

Dubai Police has said the traffic police have started using a special device that speeds up the process of issuing fines, Gulf News has reported. The new devices, which use a new voice command technology, sends information automatically to the police operations room and the fine is registered against that specific car, said Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim. “The system is the first of its type and it saves time and effort of both the police and the motorists involved in traffic offences,” he said. Motorists are informed about the fines via an SMS on their mobile phone or through e-mail, he added.
