Emirate Airlines has said that work on modifications to its fleet of 32 Airbus A380s is two months behind schedule due to a delay in the delivery of new replacement aircraft. "The modifications were due to begin in mid-March, but the first aircraft only went into modification in early May," the carrier's president, Tim Clark, told the Flight International magazine. "We need to receive the new aircraft to backfill the fleet and maintain the route network when we release A380s for modification. There's been quite a long delay driven by the lateness of delivery of the new aircraft." Despite the delay, Clark said he remains confident the repairs to the A380s would be completed on time by the original November 2014 deadline.

      <![CDATA[
Oman Air has decided to delay the launch of direct flights between Salalah and Jeddah, citing poor response, Muscat Daily has reported. “There were hardly any bookings for the whole summer season because unlike the Salalah-Muscat market, the Salalah-Jeddah is not a late booking market, which means people going for Umrah book their flights early and not at the last minute,” said head of corporate communications and media at Oman Air, Usama Karim al Haremi. “We couldn’t expect to get many last-minute bookings, that is why the launch of direct services has been postponed to June 1,” he said. The service was scheduled to start from May 2.
