RTA celebrates 7th anniversary under the theme 'Humans Matter Most'

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently attended a ceremony marking the 7th Anniversary of the RTA held under the theme 'Humans Matter Most' in the presence of a host CEO's, Directors and staffs of the RTA.

In a speech delivered on the occasion, Al Tayer stressed, that "The phenomenal achievements made by the RTA of the last 7 years were manifestation of the directives, unlimited support and close follow-up of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council; and HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council."

Al Tayer announced the launch of three new initiatives aimed to bolster Emiratization drive in the RTA in keeping with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to assign top priority to Emiratization, and the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Emiratization Award' launched by HH. RTA initiatives also encompass the 'New Manager's Programme', focusing on empowering Emiratis, 'Leading Emiratization Programme', and 'Tomorrow's Treasures Initiative'.

Emiratization rate of leading positions in the RTA has touched 85%; covering 100% of CEO posts, 94% of Director posts, and 82% of Manager posts.

We opted to go for 'Humans Matter Most' as a theme for the programme in conformity with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who said, "It is the not the place that matters, it is rather the human. The sharp vision of HH is what makes Dubai stands out of other cosmopolitan cities as HH assigns top priority to human interests out of his firm belief that humans have to live a decent and safe life in order for them to be able to give and innovate."

"We, in the RTA, are keen to follow the path charted by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and attend to implementing his directives and realizing his vision for Dubai Emirate. Therefore, we believe that achievements made by the RTA; which have earned the commendation of top executives from within or outside the UAE, are attributable in fact to the dedication and sincerity of all RTA staffs and their team work spirit," he added.

RTA is keen on promoting its human resources and the leadership competencies of its young employees who are the main thrust of improved productivity and quality. The RTA has launched several training programmes including Qiyadi 1 & 2, Improving Individual Performance of RTA Directors, Pioneers Programme, and Knowledge Transfer to Rail Agency Employees.

Programmes also include training a host of Emirati engineers to groom them for the full membership of the Institution of British Engineers, dispatching employees of different administrative levels to Leaders Qualifying Programmes held by the Dubai Government, and dispatching a bunch of employees to complement their higher studies in universities in and outside the UAE.

"Employees are the genuine human capital of the RTA; which is therefore keen on providing a suitable working environment that stimulates employees to enhance productivity. RTA premises house a number of service facilities such as a Gym for men & women, library encompassing more than 14 thousand addresses, a venue for Women Committee, clinic to provide emergency treatment services, supermarket, and a restaurant. RTA is keen on uplifting the caliber of all staff, and identifying as well as nurturing the talents and innovations of male and female employees in a variety of fields. Recently, the RTA celebrated the completion of the inaugural edition of RTA Talents Programme, RTA Award for Scientific Research and the Knowledge Cup Contest," elaborated Al Tayer.

At the end of the ceremony, Al Tayer presented trophies to 12 leading, dedicated & distinguished employees, and announced the promotion of 13 Managers to the post of Senior Manager. He also decorated the sectors and agencies winning the National Day Contest; where the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector finished first, followed by the Licensing Agency as a runner-up, and the Dubai Taxi Corporation in the third position.

In the Best Initiatives category, RTA honoured Al Mutaasim Billah Mohammed in recognition of his initiative of publishing a book explaining the Eternal Language poem of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; and Ruqaia Saqr for her initiative of colouring the biggest flag. Honourees included the highest rated committees and teams in 2011; where Customers Council won the first position, followed by the Team Assessing the Implementation of Corporate Governance Status in the second position, and the Higher Committee for the Distinguished Government Performance in the third position.

Khalid Al Hameedi was honoured for scooping the largest number of Shukran certificates under Tamayyaz Programme, and the Public Transport Agency was honoured for the efforts made towards the excellent preparation for the quarterly meetings with the Chairman of the Board and Executive Director.

The best 8 directors and best 8 employees at RTA level in 2012 have also been decorated. The list of honourees also included 3 coordinators with the strategic partners; namely Hussain Al Banna, Sultan Al Marzooki and Udai Al Deesi, in addition to the best three customer service employees, best three inspectors, technicians & drivers in the Public Transport Agency, best three examiners in the Licensing Agency, and the best three inspectors, technicians in the Traffic & Roads Agency.

During the ceremony recreational spots were displayed in addition to a film about RTA talents, and a draw for prizes.
