RTA inks MoU with Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority

The Rail Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), reiterated the standing commitment to collaborate with all government and quasi-government institutions in the Emirate of Dubai as part of endeavours of expanding and promoting the scale of mass transit systems along with the associated infrastructure in the Emirate of Dubai.

Such a drive fits well with the aspirations of the Dubai Government to rank Dubai among top cosmopolitan cities, offering all means of decent living for citizens, residents, visitors, businessmen and investors hailing in from all countries of the globe.

To this effect a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Rail Agency and the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA). The MoU was signed of late at RTA's Head Office in the presence of a number of officials and employees representing both parties.

The agreement was signed by Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO of Rail Agency, on behalf of Rail Agency; and Mohammad Al Bahri, Executive Director of Zoning Authority Development Control, on behalf of the DTMFZA.

Al Hammadi welcomed the visiting delegation of the DTMFZA, considering the signing of this MoU an important step towards establishing closer bilateral relations to revitalize the joint cooperation & pave the way for working hard towards turning bilateral relations into a strategic partnership; playing a vital role in developing the mass transit modes, especially the metro service.

"It gives us great pleasure and a privilege to work side by side with the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority and contribute to developing the business & activities of the Dubai Free Zone Authority," said Al Hammadi. Public transport means, including the Metro, play a crucial role in promoting the business sector and all forms of economic & commercial activities, including companies and establishments operating within the Free Zones," he added.

For his part, Mohammad Al Bahri, Executive Director of Zoning Authority Development Control, Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, was delighted with the signing of the MoU with the RTA, saying: "This is a step of import taken by the Dubai Free Zone Authority to open up new channels of cooperation with one of the key entities in the United Arab Emirates that plays a vital role in providing mass transit and other services to the public. He also expressed the readiness of Dubai Free Zone Authority to cooperate with the Rail Agency in promoting mass transit modes in general and the metro service in particular."

The MoU provides for streamlining the relationship between the two parties as regards mutual coordination and the exchange of information. It also lays down a common framework for carrying out construction works on lands within the railway protection zone, and areas affected by such works, along with the planned rail tracks. It also provides for coordination between the respective departments in both parties as regards the issuance of permits for such land plots.
