- PRESS RELEASE
In its inaugural meeting held of late, the Public Transport Day Committee, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), discussed a host of issues aimed at boosting the Public Transport Day event scheduled to be held on the first of November for the fourth time in a row, the aim being to encourage commuters use mass transit systems in Dubai Emirate, be it marine modes, metro or public buses.
"Regular meetings being held with the Committee's team members will have a significant contribution towards mapping out clear strategies and targets of uplifting the profile of the initiative in a bid to bring about a 10% rise in the number of riders compared with last year. We have therefore opted to chalk out a number of distinctive new events to raise the awareness of community members about the benefits accruing to them, as well as to the environment, as a result of using public transport means, with particular focus placed on the outcome of such move in cutting traffic congestion and protecting the environment from carbon emissions generated by vehicles exhausts," explained Al Mulla.
The meeting also reviewed the Master Plan of the Public Transport Day along with the ancillary tasks and objectives to be implemented in the lead-up for the event.
It also examined the key promotional aspects such as Sufouh Tramway, NOL cards, new services, and the participation of students of schools & varsities among other marketing & promotional campaigns in the making for the Public Transport Day event.
