RTA stand in Berlin InnoTrans showcases key achievements

The stand of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in the International Trade Fair for Transport Technology Conference & Exhibition (InnoTrans); which concluded yesterday in the German capital Berlin, saw a huge turnout of participants spanning a wide-spectrum of firms & entities specialized in the manufacturing & operation of transport systems from all corners of the globe.
The Stand displayed all key projects accomplished by the RTA over the past few years including bridges, tunnels and road-widening projects.
It also showcased the distinctive mass transit systems of Dubai Emirate highlighted by public buses and marine transit means such as the Water Taxi, Water Bus, Ferry Dubai and Abras.
The Stand shed considerable light on the Dubai Metro project, which captured the admiration of visitors, thanks to its unique design, ability to bring about a touch of quality to Dubai in a short time, and attract massive numbers of commuters, offering in the process a big boost to the enhancement of mass transit systems. Visitors were also briefed on future road projects, and rail projects such as Sufouh Tramway and future metro lines.
"RTA is keen on making effective participation in global conferences & exhibitions concerned with the boosting of public transportation in a bid to keep pace with the latest infrastructure technologies of constructing railway networks, interior train designs, tunnels, entertainment systems, buses and everything related to transportation, particularly when these showpieces are attended by industry specialists. Such platforms will help the overall objective of adopting the best approaches & practices conforming to RTA vision of Safe & Smooth Transport for All, and ensure that Dubai Emirate will remain in a pioneering position in its quest for excellence and the implementation of the highest international standards," said Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of RTA Marketing & Corporate Communication.
"RTA's participation in the Exhibition was constructive and reflected its reputed profile as well as the phenomenal achievements it made over the past six years in uplifting mass transit systems in terms of quality and efficiency. The participation also illustrated RTA's commitment to provide integrated mass transit means spanning buses, water transport modes and the metro; all of which feature top quality service as well as comprehensive coverage to satisfy the needs & expectations of users whose number is approaching one million passengers per day.
"RTA Stand also highlighted MENA Centre of Transport Excellence hosted in RTA premises; culminating the successful partnership between the RTA and the UITP over the past years. The Center is viewed as a byproduct of the resounding success credited to Dubai Emirate in hosting the 59th UITP Congress and Exhibition 2011. During that international event, which was held for the first time ever in the Middle East, it was also agreed to organize a Public Transport Conference & Exhibition in Dubai biannually for a 10-year period.
"RTA Stand in InnoTrans contributed considerably to showcasing the effective role of the Centre of Transport Excellence in leveraging public transportation strategies in the region, offering the best mobility practices, and training transport specialists on the global practices of the industry. It also played a pivotal role in fostering cooperation and sharing expertise with transportation stakeholders in the region and beyond, and partnering with universities in disseminating the culture of public transport across the region. The role of the Center extends to offering countries of the region have exposure to the successful practices & experiments of public transport in order to address the mobility requirements of the public," elaborated Dr. Aysha.
"Establishing the Centre of Transport Excellence renders Dubai Emirate a reference destination for professional researches and the exchange of field knowledge, as well as nurturing a healthy environment for living. Key initiatives which the Center is pondering include establishing a host of streamlined transportation channels for exchanging experiments & expertise, compiling reports about transportation policies in the MENA region, and holding training courses in support of personnel engaged in transportation sector," stated Dr. Aysha in a final remark.
