Salalah Methanol reaches production milestone

Salalah Methanol Co (SMC) has said it has achieved three million tonnes of methanol production on February 22, the first such achievement since the Omani firm's plant was commissioned in May 2010, Oman Daily Observer has reported. SMC, wholly-owned by Oman Oil, manages and operates a methanol plant located in Salalah Free Zone with an investment of $900m. Oman Trading International (OTI) is the off-taker of SMC's methanol production and handles the marketing of the product globally.
