Sale of IKEA's almond cake suspended in UAE

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, March 07 - 2013 at 06:56

IKEA UAE has removed its popular almond cake from the menu after tests confirmed it to contain coliform bacteria, Gulf News has reported. The coliform bacteria known to be found in human faeces and sewage, was traced by Chinese authorities in November. "Traces of coliform bacteria have been found in two isolated production batches of almond cake with chocolate and butterscotch, produced for the restaurant, from one supplier in Sweden," an IKEA spokesperson said. "There is no health risk associated with consuming this product," the spokesperson added.
