Saraya selects contractor for its W Amman hotel mixed use tower in Abdali

Saraya Abdali Real Estate Investment Company, a subsidiary of Saraya Holdings, has commissioned the Amman-based Dubai Construction Company, a subsidiary of Dubai Contracting Company (DCC)to build a 78,000 sqmmixed use tower in Abdali, Amman's new downtownthat will help positionthe Jordanian capital as a regional business and tourism hub.

As part of the $200m project, the contractor will build W Amman, a36-storey tower comprising280-rooms and42 exclusive serviced residences. The tower tops an 8-levelpodium accommodating the commercial modules (offices &and high-end retail) and the hotel's amenities.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., one of the leading hotel and leisure companies in the world, will launch its contemporary, design-led W brand in Jordan with the opening of W Amman. W Hotels currently has a portfolio of 43 hotels globally with plans to expand across primary cities in the Middle East such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat.

Anticipated to open for business in 2016, the hotel will rise amidst the modern Abdali, Amman's new downtown located near the Shmeisani business district. The hotel will be surrounded with tens of major public and private institutions including banks, hotels, hospitals, and residential areas. It also has access to the latest in international retail and food andbeverage outlets where the Abdali Boulevard offers indoor/outdoor entertainment and luxury shopping.In keeping with the brand's innovative lifestyle positioning, W Amman will offer contemporary restaurant concepts and glamorous entertainment experiences, as well as a signaturespa, an outdoor pool, fitness center, and event spaces including a business center and banquet hall.

After the conclusion of a design competition where three renowned international architectural firms were invited, Saraya Abdali selected the concept design presented by Perkins & Will (P&W), themed after the unique architecture of the Nabatean city of Petra. The building's architecture and style are inspired by the rock formations of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site and of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
