Saudi Arabia cracks down on government doctors serving private hospitals

  • Saudi Arabia: Wednesday, September 05 - 2012 at 11:18

The Saudi health ministry has launched a crackdown on Saudi doctors who work without the ministry's consent for private hospitals on a part-time basis to increase their income, Saudi Gazette has reported. This "constitutes a flagrant violation of healthcare regulations," a source at the ministry said. The ministry said the owners of private hospitals attract these doctors by offering them huge salaries, a matter that makes them neglect their official jobs, especially in the emergency department.
