Saudi Arabia forms body to monitor prices of basic food items

Saudi Arabia's commerce and industry ministry has launched a body to monitor the prices of basic food commodities, Arab News has reported. The monitoring body is tasked with providing accurate data on strategic food items, an exchange of information on the availability and prices of food commodities and how to reinforce the national efforts for the realisation of food security. The move aims to help decision-makers, officials, researchers and other departments concerned to access information on the prices and availability of food items in local markets.
