Saudi Arabia joins AHSRAE in 'Shaping Tomorrow's Built Environment'

During a meeting that took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on August 28-29, 2012 between representatives of The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers 'ASHRAE' headed by Mr. Thomas Watson, President of ASHRAE and representatives of various organization from Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Arabia Standards Organization 'SASO', Saudi Aramco, Saudi Energy Efficiency Center 'SEEC', Ministry of Water and Electricity, Saudi Electricity Company and members from ASHRAE Saudi Chapter.
Al Salem Johnson Controls hosted an ASHRAE Technical Dinner Meeting and sponsored the event on August 29, 2012 where Mr. Thomas Watson, president of ASHRAE was a guest of honor and a speaker.
"We aim at being a truly global society that allows both ASHRAE members and the communities and societies we work with to contribute fully to the solution of major problems faced. We must make great gains in the areas of energy efficiency, effective food delivery and sustainability. Saudi Arabia has a number of promising potentials and we look forward to help develop and sustain the Saudi community," stated Mr. Watson during his speech.
Visiting representatives from ASHRAE international were rewarded a plaque commemorating this event.
Mr. Samir Al Umair, President of Saudi ASHRAE Chapter and Mr. Khalid Al Mulhim, ASHRAE Saudi Chapter Officer emphasized on the importance of ASHRAE role to the Saudi construction and building sector.
"ASHRAE Saudi Chapter was founded in 1993 with the efforts of Saudi and expatriate Engineers, Professors, Consultants and Contractors working in Saudi Arabia. Supported by Saudi Aramco; we, the ASHRAE Saudi Chapter, exert all efforts we have to adopt, implement and update the standards followed in our beloved country to help 'Shape Tomorrow's Built Environment' and secure a better future for our sons and daughters," Mr. Al Umair commented.
On the other hand, Engineer Basil Abdul Aziz, Managing Director of Al Salem Johnson Controls, pointed out the significance of ASHRAE energy efficiency standards.
"With the patronage of his majesty Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Kind Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz; the Saudi construction sector has witnessed a historic leap with mega projects in vital cities across the Kingdom, in particular the expansion project that his majesty ordered for the Makkah Haram. Being part of such projects and with an acknowledged background in the Saudi market, we strive at Al Salem Johnson Controls to apply nothing but state of the art standards and guidelines. The ASHRAE energy efficiency standards will serve as a key into a new era and enforces our efforts in helping the community achieve," Eng. Basil said.
Al Salem Johnson controls concluded the ASHRARE meeting with a presentation given by Mr. Arif Hussien, Chillers Products Manager, on the impact of the Variable Speed Drive 'VSD' and the benefits of incorporating VSDs into HVAC systems.
