Saudi transport minister Jabara Al-Seraisry has announced the new Jeddah-Makkah Highway is to be opened for traffic soon, Saudi Gazette has reported. About 15km of the road has been completed and opened to the public, Al-Seraisry noted. The minister also said that work on the new road from King Abdulaziz International Airport to Makkah is to begin soon. "These two projects (Al-Haramain Train and the new highway) should reduce the congestion on Al-Haramain Expressway and the old Jeddah-Makkah highway," he said.
