Saudi Arabia's Shoura Council is looking into 10 recommendations to deal with the problem of tenants who are either late in their rent payments or simply leave their homes without paying up, Saudi Gazette has reported. The recommendations, if approved, will form part of a proposed real estate law, which was referred back to a specialised committee for review. They included binding tenants to provide a financial guarantee, a guarantor, or sign a commitment to deduct the rent from the tenant's salary or bank account. The recommendations also specified common procedures to locate and issue subpoenas to rent evaders.
