Saudi Arabia software thefts tip SR1.7bn

Business Software Alliance (BSA) has said software piracy in Saudi Arabia cost developers almost SR1.7bn, Arab News has reported. Software piracy rate in the kingdom in 2011 was at 51%, compared with the global rate of 42%, the BSA report said. "Although the piracy rate in Saudi Arabia reduced marginally, the successful cooperation efforts with the ministry of culture and information represented by the directorate of copyright and BSA will continue over the coming year to maximise the impact of the awareness programmes," said the BSA.
