Saudi to fine employers hiring illegal workers

  • Saudi Arabia: Sunday, April 14 - 2013 at 01:06

The Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has said the new Saudi labour law will fine businesses SR100,000 for each expatriate worker other than those under their sponsorship, Arab News has reported. This is in addition to other financial penalties on employers who give their employees permission to work somewhere else, said RCCI director, Abdul Rahman Al-Zamil. The cost of deporting the violating employee will be deducted from the SR100,000, and the fine does not include sponsors whose employees fled if they notify the authorities of the expatriate's actions, he added.
