Saudi Power Transformer opens $32m plant

Saudi commerce and industry minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah has inaugurated the Saudi Power Transformer Co's (SPTC) SR120m factory at Dammam's 2nd Industrial City, Arab News has reported. SPTC is a joint venture established in 2010 between Indi-based Crompton Greaves (CG) and Saudi Transformer Co (STC). The new plant has a production capacity of 5,000MVA. The JV has already been awarded a five-year framework contract by the Saudi Electricity Co (SEC) for one mobile sub-station and six 25MVA power transformers.
