- PRESS RELEASE
Saudi Readymix signs a SAR250m agreement with Huta Marine, the main contractor for King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) seaport. The mega project covers a 20 million square meter area that stretches along a 6 km shoreline on the Red Sea.According to Saudi Readymix officials, the agreement covers the supply of one million cubic meters of concrete to the project.
To meet the project's demand of nearly 1,000,000 m³ regular and specialty concrete Saudi Readymix erected a new on-site factory in the Economic City to support its existing commercial factories in the area. The new on-site factory boosts Saudi Readymix's production capacity from 240cubic meters to 300 cubic meters of concrete per hour.
"This is quite a challenging project considering the time frame and the specialty concrete requirements," says Bader Alshamali,Regional General Manager at Saudi Readymix,"We have installed high capacity batch plants and ice plants to meet the volume and temperature requirements of both the regular and specialty concretes."
The project calls for the supply of large quantities of semi dry concrete mix. In order to prevent undesirable temperature rises, the concrete is mixed with large quantities of ice.
Saudi Readymix is the leading producer of concrete in Rabigh and Thuwal areas. In as little as 5 years, the company has supplied over 2 million cubic meters to many projects in the area including all the mega projects such as PetroRabigh, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and the Harama in Makkah Medina Rail Link (MMRL)project. Saudi Readymix operates 30 commercial and on-site ready-mixed concrete factories throughout the Kingdom and employs a workforce of over 3,000 employees.
