Saudi recorded 181.6% mobile penetration in 2012

Saudi Arabia's Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has announced the number of mobile subscriptions in the country stood at 53 million at the end of 2012, making the mobile phone penetration rate stand at 181.6% of the population, Arab News has reported. Of the total, prepaid subscriptions made up the great majority with more than 86%, the regulator said. By the end of last year, the number of internet users climbed to 15.8 million, or 54.1% of the population, the report said.
