Schedule is announced for Sixth annual Al Khor Fly-In

The 2013 Sixth Al Khor Fly-In - which has now become an annual event - begins at 9.00am on both days, running until approximately 4.30pm.

Aircraft owners from Qatar, the GCC and overseas will be flying into the Airport on the Thursday (17th) to prepare their machines and perform a general 'set up' of the event.

The goal of the Fly-In is to raise awareness of aviation in a fun and educational way that is attractive and accessible to all the family. It's an opportunity for those with a love of aviation to immerse themselves in a fantastic experience by taking a closer look at a diverse range of aircraft from jets, to propeller aircraft, to microlights and many others. For those unfamiliar with aviation, the learning curve will be steeper and, it is hoped, even more enjoyable.

The event begins in earnest at 9.00am on the Friday with a display of all the participating aircraft 'parked up' for visitors to photograph and have any questions answered by owners and experts. At the same time, there will be a demonstration of remote-control aircraft flying.

This will be followed by the 'real thing' - as members of the Qatar Flying Club will give a demonstration of group flying. Public tours of the exhibits begin thereafter and, after a break for prayers and lunch, these will continue, before a second display of 'formation' remote-control flying.

Next up is the Fly-In Organizing Committee's own contribution to the event, and this is followed by a demonstration from the Qatar Internal Security Forces. All the while, those aircraft not in the air will remain available for the visitors' perusal before the first day winds up at about 4.30pm.

The excitement continues on Saturday morning with a group flight of the light aircraft at the Fly-In.

The second day of the event sees visitor touring recommence, as well as further demonstrations of remote-control aircraft followed by the 'Air Sports' show from the Organizing Committee and the Lakhwya Team show.

Numerous activities organized by the QCAA and the Scientific Club will run parallel to the above attractions in a public tent set specifically for this event, where younger visitors and families will enjoy a series of competitions and quizzes, with the chance to win some superb prizes.
