Fundamentals of Project Management
This 5-day workshop combines the project management concepts and how to apply them on real life projects. It is based on the PMI Framework as outlined in a Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), latest edition. During this workshop, we provide the participants with a comprehensive overview of all the key concepts from the PMBOK Guide, such as the project life cycle, project phases, project management processes, and knowledge areas. Further, through numerous individual and group exercises, participants will immediately apply the learnt concepts. To better understand the concepts and how to apply them, we will use a realistic project (or a project from the participants own environment) as the class learning project. The key concepts and exercises will include developing a project charter, outlining a project management plan, developing a work breakdown structure, learning team dynamics, performing risk identification, analysis, and response planning.DubaiUnited Arab EmiratesSunday, June 30 - 2013Thursday, July 04 - 2013 -
Managing Small/Simple Projects
Project Management has proven its value across almost every industry and business sector. This in turn led to excessive and unnecessary emphasis on project management certification. To manage the small or simple 'day-to-day' project, we only need proper project management thinking and simplified approach to apply the concepts. What is "small/simple"? What does "day-to-day" mean? Most will say that projects are not 'simple' and we agree that most projects have a degree of complexity, but not all. 'Small' is relative and a factor or organization and industry. For industrial projects, a million dollar project is small. On the other hand, for internal business projects a million dollar represent a huge project for most organizations. Concerning 'day-to-day' projects are not projects that we can deliver in one day but maybe a project that requires a few weeks, or months. Examples of these projects are a marketing campaign for a small & medium organization; a learning program for a business unit; writing and publishing a book; or a new financial process. We typically assign these projects to "accidental project managers", those with no project management experience or training. The Managing Small/Simple Projects course is an ideal workshop for those who are anxious and interested in learning how to take the first steps in their project management practices. The workshop allows the participants to gain excellent understanding of a simplified model which is in alignment with global standards; such as PMI's PMBOK® Guide.lebanonLebanonTuesday, December 10 - 2013Thursday, December 12 - 2013 -

Program and Strategic Initiatives Management
Over the years, project management principles and practices have empowered organizations, across all business sectors, to deliver projects effectively and with higher success rates. With this demonstrated performance, it was necessary to elevate project management into higher level of organizational project management, which is through the use of portfolio and program management principles and practices. Program Management is emerging as the approach to help bridge the gap of organizational performance and enabling organizations to execute their strategy and to achieve their strategic objectives. Program management, is the new era of organizational project management. It is indeed the missing link to resolve some of the traditional project management challenges and delivering on the strategic plans. It is important to stress that program management is different from traditional project management since a program managers requires a refined set of business and leadership skills that are vastly different from that of a project manager. This course will explore the various aspects of program management. It also provides the foundation that you need for the PMI's credential, the Program Management Professional (PgMP), as well as it provides the knowledge, in an organized and immersive framework, that you need to improve your program management competency.DubaiUnited Arab EmiratesSunday, June 23 - 2013Tuesday, June 25 - 2013 -
CAPM Exam Prep and Simulation Course
This course actually combines two courses, CAPM Exam Prep and Exam Simulation. The Exam Prep course is a mix of lectures, discussions, and exercises. The design of the course is to help the participants gain the most understanding of project management with the least amount of study. Project Change Management
This course focuses on project change management; project related changes and not organizational change management. In term of content this is the same course as our generic project change management course, except in this course we limit the audience to those working on capital projects, clients or contractors. This course covers all types of change that we encounter on projects such as contract related changes, project changes, and project objective "scope" changes. In this course, we provide a comprehensive view of project change management, including source of change, reasons for change, impact and risks (threats) due to change. We emphasize the need for effective change management from the project idea to closure; in lieu of limiting change management to control against the project plan. In other words, exercise project change control during the development phases of a project where the risk of scope "creep" and hidden changes is high. We will work with the participants on understanding and starting to develop (in class) the change management system; including policy, governance, roles and responsibilities, approval and authority, process flowcharts, forms and templates and the control board. The course design is applicable to clients' organizations but is also suitable for a service provider; can shorten it by 1-day if required.DubaiUnited Arab EmiratesSunday, November 10 - 2013Wednesday, November 13 - 2013 -
Case Studies for Capital Investment Projects
Quite frequently participants in learning programs want to relate a course's content and concepts to real life projects via case studies. Since project management is applicable across numerous industries, it is not always easy to find case studies for a full project that works across business sectors. Although this workshop covers case studies from the petrochemical industry, the cases (and sub-cases) are applicable to other projects, especially capital projects from oil & gas, utilities, heavy infrastructure, real estate development, and industrial facilities. The workshop covers real case studies where our Principal Consultant has personal experience earned during a rich and diversified project management career in locations around the globe. The workshop focuses on four major case studies, but also covering numerous (sub) case studies within the four cases.
