A high-level delegation from the trade, business and technology sectors in Seattle, USA, has recently visited Dubai World Central (DWC), the world's first purpose-built aerotropolis, as part of the UAE Business Mission that aims to enhance bilateral relations between the UAE and Seattle.
Tay Yoshitani, CEO, Port of Seattle, said, "We are looking to enhance strategic relations with the UAE, in addition to exploring opportunities for investors as well as technology, education and service providers from Seattle. We believe that there are lucrative prospects for American companies to expand in the Middle East, and Dubai World Central will certainly serve as an ideal gateway to establish a strong presence in the region."
Underlining the strategic importance of DWC, Rashed Bu Qara'a, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Aviation City Corporation, said, "Major trade, aviation and logistics companies will play a very important role in the sustainable long-term growth of the economy. Dubai World Central will therefore help unlock opportunities with its fully integrated business, aviation and logistics infrastructure, empowering leading multinationals as well as SMEs and subcontractors to confidently move ahead with their expansion plans in the regional and global markets."
Dubai World Central's Mohsen Ahmed, Director - Operation Development and Stakeholder Relations; Michel Makhlouta, Director - Aviation; and Tahnoon Saif, Director - Corporate Strategy, received the visiting delegation that included members of the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle, the Center of Excellence for Aerospace & Manufacturing, Green River Community College, Economic Development Council of Seattle and King County, and representatives of other public and private companies. The senior officials also conducted a presentation about DWC's state-of-the-art facilities and its unique features.
Mohsen Ahmed further discussed DWC's multi-modal logistics platform, which includes direct access to the airport and seaport. He also talked about plans to integrate DWC with the upcoming Etihad Rail, which will be connected in later stages to the GCC Railway Network, giving companies operating in DWC secure land access to other countries in the GCC.
DWC offers strategic benefits to logistics businesses with its integrated operation model, high level of security and safety, enhanced connectivity and competitive pricing. Its modern facilities and infrastructure have enabled businesses to expand regionally and globally from Dubai.
