SEC to build two power plants in Tabuk

Saudi Electricity Co (SEC) has announced plans to set up two power-generating plants with a capacity of 2,500 megawatts to meet the growing demand in Tabuk region, Saudi Gazette has reported. The two plants will operate using natural gas at Al-Muwailih at a cost of SR10bn, the SEC said. The number of subscribers in the region has increased from over 40,000 in 1987 to about 200,000 this year, according to director of electricity in Tabuk, Musaed Fahd Al-Qabba'.
