Seco selects ACWA-led group to build $2.6bn power plant

Saudi Electricity Co (Seco) has awarded ACWA Power International and partners including Samsung C&T Corp the contract to build a $2.6bn power plant on the kingdom's Red Sea coast, Saudi Gazette has reported. Under the deal, the ACWA-led group is to build and operate the Rabigh II IPP plant. The facility will have capacity to produce 1,813 megawatts and is to start operating in the summer of 2016, said Ali Al-Barrak, the chief executive of Seco.
