Secretary General of SFIPA visits College of Allied Health Sciences, GMU

Mr. Chaker Bou Abdallah, Secretary General of the Society of Arab Faculties and Institutes of Physiotherapy (SFIPA), Beirut - Lebanon recently visited the College of Allied Health Sciences (CoAHS), GMU and GMC Hospital, Ajman to list the Bachelor of Physical Therapy programmes of the CoAHS, GMU under the SFIPA.

The purpose of listing GMU under SFIPA was to gain international recognition in the Arab world and enhance further activities of curriculum framing research activities in the field of Physical Therapy.

The visiting dignitary was accorded a warm welcome by Provost Prof. Gita Ashok Raj, Mr. Praveen Kumar, Associate Dean and the academic team from the College of Allied Health Sciences.

Mr. Abdallah was briefed to an audio-visual presentation followed by a visit to various medical facilities, departments and advanced laboratories the University uses to impart quality medical education to the students.

He also accompanied for a tour of GMC Hospital and the newly inaugurated Learning and Information Centre at GMU which houses multimedia laboratories, learning and discussion rooms and a graduate study centre.

During the discussion it was decided that the General Body Meeting of SFIPA will be conducted in GMU in the first week of May 2013. It was also decided that alongside the General Body Meeting, GMU and SFIPA would jointly host a conference in 'Recent trends and advances in practice of Physical Therapy' on the 03rd and 04th of May, 2013.
