Hassan Karam, GCAA's former Director of Air Navigation Services, has joined Serco Middle East as the Aviation Key Account Director. Hassan will be overlooking all the Middle East Aviation contracts as well as carrying out new strategies to grow Serco's Aviation business in the region.
Since his joining GCAA in 1998, Hassan' career continued to progress and he held the position of Director of Air Navigation services since 2007.
His academic background also expanded to include several Air Traffic Control licenses, as well as Commercial Pilots, Multi Engine Land and Instrument Rating licenses from the UAE, the USA and New Zealand, bestowing Hassan with great technical and practical expertise.
Hassan led GCAA's work on creating the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre, which was a 'Distinguished Winner of Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme for Technical Experience' in 2010.
Hassan himself received several accolades for the job he has done on GCAA's projects, and shortly before leaving the authority to join Serco, was advising and assisting the Director General of the GCAA in the planning and development of Air Navigation Services in the UAE.
Commenting on the move Hassan said, "I look forward to contributing and adding value to Serco's future success in the region. Serco operates across 82 sites on four different continents and handles more than seven million aircraft movements annually, making it one of the largest, technically experienced and all-encompassing air navigation service provider. In the Middle East, Serco has been delivering air navigation services for over 60 years and I look forward to contributing and adding value to their future successes. I am also committed to optimizing their Nationalisation initiatives in order to ensure more National exposure within the UAE Aviation industry."
Zafar Raja, CEO Serco Middle East, stated, "I am extremely pleased and proud to have Hassan onboard to support us in developing our Aviation business in the GCC. Hassan brings to the table in depth experience in Aviation within the UAE with strong inputs in the planning and development of Air Navigation Services, as well as an in depth knowledge of International Safety Standards. His input is equally invaluable to our Nationals' development programmes, which has been key to the success of Serco Middle East in the region, and will allow us to continue transferring ANS knowledge and contribute to creating full world-class leadership within the region. I have no doubt that together with Hassan and all the Serco team, we will continue to grow our Aviation business in the GCC".
