Sharjah International Book Fair participates in Istanbul Book Fair

A delegation from the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) is participating in the 31st edition of Istanbull Book Fair, which is taking place at TÜYAP Fair Convention and Congress Centre in Istanbul.
Running from 17-24 November, the book exhibition is being attended by publishing houses, authors and intellectuals from 40 countries.
Speaking on the occasion, SIBF Director Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Amri, said, "Our participation in Istanbul Book Fair comes right after the conclusion of the 2012 Sharjah Book Fair, out of our eagerness to meet with Turkish publishers and showcase our successful experience in the 31st Sharjah International Book Fair this year, as well as to invite them to participate in the upcoming edition of SIBF."
"In line with the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Book Fair serves as a cultural lighthouse in the UAE and the entire region. The Fair showcases the latest book releases and hosts cultural and intellectual dialogues, seminars and discussions that bring together prominent intellectuals and thought leaders with the aim of extending bridges of cultural communication and fostering the culture of co-existence between various cultures," he added.
The Turkish General Exhibition and Convention Authority announced that an elite group of renowned lettermen and authors from Turkey and abroad will be participating in the fair where they will give lectures on various topics and issues as part of the event.
More than 250 Turkish, Arab and international publishing houses and various universities and institutes are taking part in the book fair. The Netherlands is the guest of honour at this year's edition of the Istanbul Book Fair to mark the 400th year of Turkish-Dutch diplomatic relations.
