Sharjah showcases itself in CIS countries

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, concluded successfully its roadshow in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, where Sharjah delegation met more than 300 representatives of CIS travel and tourism companies that revealed enormous concern on the emirates tourism product.
Sharjah delegation presented the latest developments of the tourism sector and the outstanding environment, tourism and heritage projects and high class hotels taking place in the emirate, and the international festivals organized by the emirate all over the year.
On their side, CIS tourism sector representatives and media expressed their interest in Sharjah tourism features and the enchanting nature of the emirate. They stressed on the prominent position Sharjah has earned in the CIS countries, which are already immense tourists markets for Sharjah, Russia on top with 207,617 Russian tourists in 2011.
The roadshow coincided with Airarbia announcing the launch of flights to Odessa. Air Arabia is UAE's first airline to enter Odessa and represents the carrier's fourth destination in Ukraine. Flights to the Ukrainian city will start on October 12. The launch of services to Odessa increases Air Arabia's flights to Ukraine to 10 weekly flights, complementing the carriers existing service to Kiev, Donetsk and Kharkiv.
Air Arabia flights to the CIS at the moment exceeds the 30 flights per week to eight different destinations.
The SCTDA is keen to increase the tourist flow into the emirate, by organizing a number of world class events and festivals, alongside with participating in international tourism exhibitions and organizing roadshows to introduce the emirate's unique tourism features.
