Sharjah puts up strong show at Moscow world tourism fair

Sharjah has registered its strong presence at the MITT (Moscow International Tourism Business Summit) exhibition, being held in the Russian capital from March 20 to 23 and being attended by a wide array of international tourism industry players and decision makers, for the 14th year at a time when the emirate has emerged as one of the favourite tourism destinations of the Russian tourists.

With the number of Russian tourists to Sharjah crossing the 300,000 mark last year and tourism companies and operators beckoning more Russian tourists to the emirate, the Sharjah delegation led by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority is once again showcasing Sharjah's rich and diverse tourism sector and its numerous attractions including the various upcoming tourism projects in the emirate and their impact on the tourism market.

The Sharjah delegation includes heads and representatives of various Sharjah government departments and agencies and private players including Sharjah Airport Authority, Air Arabia, Sharjah Museums Department, Sharjah National Hotels, Hotel Radisson Blu, Grand Hotel Sharjah, Time Ruby Hotel Apartments, Arabian Link Tours and Khalidiyah Tourism Group.

The 14th year of Sharjah's presentation at the Moscow tourism fair profiles the achievements of the emirate in the past few years in various fields, especially the strong growth of its tourism sector and its positive impact on the economy and other areas of development. It's part of the emirate's strategy to tap the Russian and European market and bolster Sharjah's position as a global tourism destination and leader in family and cultural and entertainment tourism.

Sharjah has carved itself a prominent position in the Russian and European tourism markets and the emirate is being promoted in the Moscow fair in all its diversity such as its natural landscape, its international cultural and recreational festivals and sporting events organized throughout the year such as the Sharjah Water Festival and Sharjah Light Festival and Sharjah Heritage Days besides a number of tourist attractions and museums and picturesque beaches.

The Sharjah pavilion at MITT Moscow showcases the best the emirate has to offer to prospective visitors combining the authenticity of the past as well as the ingenuity of the present besides offering a peek into its celebrated heritage, culture and Arab traditions. Guide books and promotional literature in both Russian and English will be available for the benefit of the MITT visitors.

It is worth mentioning that the MITT is one of the top five international tourism exhibitions with more than 3000 exhibitors and 197 destinations on an area of 56,000 square meters. The number of visitors the exhibition has attracted since its inception in 1994 runs up to 1.5 million. The Moscow exhibition opens a window to the European markets and brings together market leaders, investors and exhibitors from around the world and attracts global industry players, exhibitors and decision makers come together.
