Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurates AEEDC Dubai 2013

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority inaugurated the seventeenth edition of the UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC Dubai) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Following the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid toured the exhibition area, and explored the latest medical devices, technologies and equipment displayed by over 1000 specialized companies from 70 countries. The tour included visits to company stands unveiling their latest technologies during AEEDC Dubai - which is the largest dental event in the region and third largest globally.
His Highness was delighted by the number of companies participating in the exhibition and the number of dentists participating in the conference which has increased by 10%.
He also commented on the tremendous turnout reinforcing Dubai's role as a regional hub for major international companies who are looking forward to promote their products from Dubai to the Middle East and world markets.
H.E. Essa Al Maidoor, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, praised the outstanding position that AEEDC Dubai has attained, which has become one of the largest and most admired specialized dental conference and exhibition.
He was also delighted by the reputation that AEEDC Dubai embraces in the Middle East and the world as it attracts major international companies to display their latest products and technologies in this most specialized medical event.
H.E. Essa Al Maidoor also referred to the continuous annual growth of AEEDC Dubai conference and Exhibition as the number of participants and visitors increase year after year. Moreover, he referred to the growth in the number of companies and medical institutions participating in the event which has become an annual destination for manufacturers and specialists in the dental and oral health fields.
H.E. also assured that the Dubai Health Authority is keen to support all medical events hosted by Dubai because of their positive returns on different sectors such as: health, economy, commercial, tourism and many others, which also reflects positively on boosting the economy and sustainable development, in addition to improving the skills of the medical team working in the public and private sectors.
Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of AEEDC Dubai and the Global Scientific Dental Alliance, extended his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan for supporting AEEDC Dubai since the 1st edition in 1996, and said, "Our wise leadership represented by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the direct supervision of H.H. "More than 30,000 participants and visitors are expected to attend AEEDC this year and the number of companies participating in AEEDC this year will reach 1000 companies from 70 countries. More than 60 thousand room nights have been booked and the outcome of the business deals from AEEDC is expected to increase by 15% from the previous year. This is largely due to the increase in budgets allocated by GCC countries towards the health and education sectors," concluded Dr. Al Madani
From his side, Dr. Tariq Khoory, the Director of the Dental Department at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the Honorary Chairman of AEEDC Dubai, said, "The DHA has always been supporting AEEDC since its early days of inception back in 1996 until this day due to the economic importance of this scientific event. AEEDC serves a vital dental platform not only on a domestic level, but regionally and globally. Under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of the DHA, The DHA is always keen to support all scientific conferences hosted by the great city of Dubai and especially AEEDC because of its significant contribution to dentists in terms of Continuing Dental Education and by providing them with knowledge and the latest technological advancements in the field of Dentistry."
Dr. Nasser Al Malik, Conference Chairman of AEEDC Dubai, said, "We are introducing new and diverse concepts for AEEDC Dubai 2013; first we have a symposium in 'Rapid Orthodontics', a fast developing discipline in Dental Orthodontics. Moreover, we have a dedicated full-day session for Aesthetic Dentistry, having emphasis on various updates and controversies. Both activities will be integrated in the conference program and will have keynote international speakers."
AEEDC Dubai 2013 will feature a number of intensive scientific activities such as: the GCC Preventive Dentistry Conference, AEEDC Advanced Specialty Courses, Poster and Oral Poster Presentations, the 4th AEEDC Student Competition and the AEEDC Dubai Awards.
AEEDC Advanced Specialty Courses will be running parallel to AEEDC's Conference and will provide advanced and updated theoretical and methodological approaches. The courses will also provide systematic and comprehensive knowledge on current and different theories, enhance the practical expertise of the dental specialists, build a knowledge platform among qualified specialists across the globe and help them gain extra CME points.
