Shell could bid in next Iraq energy auctions

  • Iraq: Monday, September 10 - 2012 at 12:08

Royal Dutch Shell has said it may decide to take part in Iraq's next energy auctions, provided the opportunities on offer are sufficiently lucrative, Dow Jones has reported. "The license terms have to be attractive and they have to be competitive," said Mark Carne, Shell's executive vice president for the Middle East and North Africa. The previous round which was held in May did not receive very enthusiastic response from international companies, with just a handful winning the 12 unexplored plots.
